"Let the air carry your name."

I think a mother setting her daughter free has special powers, whether our daughters need us to do that for them or not. This is infinitely more touching than I can express, Erin.

I'm touched. Thank you, Laury. 🧡

“Don’t hand your thread to anyone who might unravel you.”

That line simply stops me in my tracks. AHHHHHH.

It's such a powerful image. We're all holding onto our own threads, the essence of who we are, and it’s crucial who we entrust with them. Some people know how to weave with our threads, adding strength and beauty, while others might just pull and tug until everything comes undone. It’s a reminder that we need to be discerning about who we allow into our inner circle. Who are we letting have influence over our spirit, mind, and dreams? Who is helping, and who is harming? This line encourages self-reflection and setting boundaries. It's easy to let well-meaning people, or even people who don't mean well, take pieces of us. But this is our life to build, our fire to ignite, and we have to keep our essential threads safe from being lost.

Thank you so much, Alex—your words truly mean a lot. As always, you expanded that line so beautifully. Not everyone deserves access to our thread. And while that might sound self-protective, it's really about being intentional. About choosing those who add color and structure to our lives rather than fray what we've worked so hard to hold together.

Your reflection is a reminder in itself—this isn’t about isolation, it’s about alignment. Thank you for articulating that so powerfully. 🧡

Beautiful Erin. Did you write this recently or when she was younger?

Erin Miller's avatar

Thanks, Kyle. Just wrote it—she turns 18 and graduates on Saturday, so… ummm, yeah. Feeling all sorts of feelings over here. A bit off-brand for me. 😉

Haha.

Well it demonstrates how gifted you are as a writer in many ways while being just a beautiful gift to give her.
